Ciarán Caulfield

Ciarán is in his third year of secondment with Oide, working as a Professional Learning Leader in the Leadership Division.

A native of Dublin, he began his teaching career in 2002 in St. Joseph’s Primary School ("Joey's"), Fairview. This school supports many children from Dublin’s north inner city. In 2010, Ciarán became Principal of Kilcoskan NS, a small, rural school in North County Dublin. During this time, he worked initially as a teaching principal, leading the school through a large building project and the opening of the school’s two special classes. In 2018, Ciarán became Principal of St. Fintan’s NS, a larger suburban school on Dublin’s Northside.

Ciarán is interested in all areas of education and leadership. He has taught at third level on PMEP programmes in the areas of philosophy of education, psychology of education and curriculum studies. He has led school-based projects to inform the NCCA’s Primary Curriculum redevelopment work. In 2022, Ciarán received research bursary funding from the Teaching Council, exploring shared professional learning and leadership to enhance curriculum teaching.
